Three Sixty Five

“And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

The consensus among my tribe is that 2018 was one helluva emotional ride!

Change is inevitable and yet, change is unpredictable. You can set a goal to make changes, and actually make those changes, or you can ignore subtle signs/your intuition regarding your need to make a change and be catapulted into changing (insert temper tantrum when that happens).

Are you a Goal Creator or a Resolutions Maker?

The custom of making New Year’s resolutions began with the ancient Babylonians. They were also the first to hold celebrations to honor the new year during Akitu, a 12-day religious festival where the Babylonians crowned a new king, or loyalty was reaffirmed to a reigning king. Promises were made to the gods to pay off debts and return borrowed objects. Doing so was favored by the gods and in return the gods’ granted a good year; not doing so you’d fall out of favor. For early Christians, the first day of the new year was a time to reflect on past mistakes, with resolve to do better in the future, thus, this routine on New Year’s day became a tradition. (History.com)

Some of us make NY’s resolutions, some of us create goals. Whatever your yearly routine is, just do it! Don’t procrastinate. Right out the gate of ringing in 2019 you should be ready to start your new habits.

A new year is a new opportunity to do the things you didn’t do the year prior. Or like those early Christians, a time to reflect and resolve to do better.

A New Year’s resolution or a New Year’s goal, is an intention. You speak it, write it, take action, and it manifests. It’s a chance to pivot.

Write a new page, edit accordingly.

Happy New Year!
